Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Beery, daughter of Rev. Christian and Magdalene Brunk, was born near Edom, Rockingham County, Virginia, July 15, 1846, and departed this life March 24, 1924 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 9 days.

On Feb 21, 1866, she was married to Dewitt Coffman Beery, of Edom Virginia. Eleven children were born to this union, ten of whom survive the mother. One Annabelle, died in early childhood. (The only death in the immediate family for 49 years). The children living are: Joseph Wm. at Atwood, Colo., Gunning Christian, Columbia Mo., Mrs B.H. Anderson, Morrisville, Mo., Dewitt Aldine, Lewisburg, West Virginia, Mrs. G. W. Frieze, Jerico Springs, Mo., John K, Alpine, Texas, Mrs B.F. Melcher, Webster Grove, Mo., Mrs A.C. Thurman Mt. Vernon Washington, Mrs R. A. Ryan, Big Timber, Montana, and Mrs. B.B. Basinger, Jerico Springs, Mo. Besides the husband, 10 children, 33 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, she leaves to mourn her departure 2 brothers, Noah O. Brunk, Los Angeles, California, Frank Brunk, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, 1 sister, Mrs. Jake Stauffer,
Winchester, Va., and a host of friends.

After her marriage, she lived in Virginia, for a few years, then moved to Ray county, Mo., 44 years ago, when this country was sparsely settled, Mr Beery, with his family, located on a farm near Cedarville which has since
been her home. In early life she became a member of the Christian Union Church. When the family moved to Mo., she with her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal Church South, with which church she has since been identified. In praise of her faithful, consistent Christian life, every one of here 10 children, followed her in early life by professing faith in Christ as their Savior and united with the church. Three of the boys are ministers in the Methodist church.

Her large circle of friends were true and abiding, her self-sacrificing servicewas evidenced in behalf of her family but it did not stop there, she delighted to do good and would outdo others with kindness. Her many duties as wife and mother of a large family, at a time when there were few labor saving conveniences gave her a practical knowledge of life which was a real heritage and encouragement to her children and inspired them to acquire
the best equipment for life.

After many years of affliction with periods of great pain and a recent stroke of paralysis, she sweetly passed away a 6 o'clock on the morning of March 24, at the home of her son, Rev. Dewitt A. Beery, at Lewisburg, West Virginia. To the last she remembered her friends, and requested that her
body be returned to her old home and among her friends. "She hath done what she could".
