Ethel Cleo Thurman McKay, 90, Burlington, died Friday, Dec. 8, 1972, in a Sedro-Woolley convalescent center. Born Nov. 24, 1882, in Missouri, Mrs. McKay was a registered nurse, taking her training in Kansas City. She came to Skagit County in 1913 where she married Clyde Thurman May 20, 1913. [They married in Kansas City on that date.] He preceded her in death in 1945 and she married Joseph P. McKay in Avon Nov. 21, 1952. Mr. McKay died in 1970. Mrs. McKay was a member of the Burlington First United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service. She is survived by one son, Myron Thurman of Fremont, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Emil (Alberta) Torrell of Mount Vernon; a sister, Mrs. Ivy Melcher of Aurora, Mo., six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Burlington First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Burlington Cemetery.
Ethel graduated from nursing school in Parkville, Missouri. She worked for many years in Skagit County.
