Ivy M. Wells, 82, of Barrackville, formerly of South Charleston, died Tuesday (July 22, 2008) at her residence. She was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Ovapa (Clay County), a daughter of the late Robert and Mamie Woodrum King.Ms. Wells fought a long illness with heart disease, stroke and lung cancer. Formerly, she worked at Owens-Illinois in Kanawha City before moving to Barrackville in 1966. Before becoming ill, she was an avid bowler. She was a Methodist by faith. She enjoyed sitting on her porch visiting with friends and relatives. Ms. Wells was witty and fun loving and enjoyed visiting with neighbors who strolled Ice Street in Barrackville.Survivors include one son, John R. "Bob" Wells and his wife Sandie of White Hall; two brothers, Gene King of Clay County and Jerry Thomas King of Spencer; three sisters, Irene Hardman of St. Albans, Agnes Beckett of Clay County, Audrey Oxley of Clay County; and several nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John C. "Johnny" Wells; and two brothers, Garrett King and Richard King, both formerly of Valley Fork.Friends may call the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Rd., Fairmont, from noon- 2 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. today with the Rev. Dwight Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
