William Garrett King, 72, of Valley Fork, died July 11, 2005 at home.
He was born on October 19, 1932, to the late Robert Preston and Mammie Ethel Woodrum King. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved pet, Crocket, and sister, Nina Faye King.
He retired from Columbia Gas Transmission Corp., Coco, after 34 years of service, was an Army Veteran, a member of Local OCAW-Pace, and Local Union 628.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Brenda Keen King of Valley Fork; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sandy Moore King of Pt. Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and David Duffield of Valley Fork; grandson, Justin King of Florence, KY; sisters, Irene Hardman of St. Albans, Ivy Wells of Fairmont, Agnes Beckett of Amma, and Audrey Oxley of Newton; brothers, Gene King of Clay, Earl King of Valley Fork, and Jerry King of Spencer.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2005, from 6 to 8 pm at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kanawha County Animal Shelter, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV.
