Marion Chavis, 64, of 1652 Double Branch Rd., West Columbia, died Monday. He was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Arthur and Mamie Hutto Chavis. He was a retired painter and a member of the Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Church near Neeses. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Kittie W. Chavis; three sons, M. C. and Leander Chavis of Swansea and Doyle Chavis of West Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Williams of Columbia and Mrs. Rosa Lee Williams of West Columbia; and three brothers, Morgan and Earl Chavis of Columbia and Harvey Chavis of West Columbia.
