Eulia was born in Lawrence MA in the house her father built on Forest St., the youngest of five children. Around 1901 the family moved to Forest St. in Methuen, where her mother died in 1903 of tuberculosis. Soon after, Eulia attended a business business school in Lawrence and worked in the offices of her father and oldest brother who dealt in, among other things, real estate, collections and insurance, at their Essex Street locations Jon Lawrence.
Eulia married in Methuen on Sept. 1, 1907 to Arthur "Doug" Arnold. They resided in the Methuen & Lawrence MA area for the next several years, where their two daughters were born. Sadly, the marriage did not survive and by about 1914 Eulia and her girls had moved to Derry NHLto reside with her mother's sister and husband, Nettie (Dow) and Alfred Webb. She divorced in 1919 and by about the little family had moved to Salem NH, where they could be close to her brother Frank and his wife Ellie Scollay.
The two families were very close and also remained close to the Webb family of Derry, until their deaths. After many years of hard work Eulia was able to purchase a small home of her own, where she remained almost until her death.
Eulia was a small, lean, almost frail-looking woman in her later years but she had a backbone of steel. Her life had not been an easy one but she had always worked hard, for many years in various shoe shops in the area, in both Salem and Derry. She died in a Lawrence MA hospital of heart problems. She never remarried. She often said she was married on Labor Day and had labored for the rest of her life. So true.
