Daniel L Schmerbauch, 30, of Troy, died Friday, July 31, 1959 at 9 pm at Scott Air Force Base Hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks.
A veteran of the Korean conflict, he had served in the US infantry from December, 1952 to March, 1954, being released from the service for reasons of health.
He was born in Rombauer, Missouri, August 16, 1928, the son of Charles H Schmerbauch and the late Julia Schmerbauch of Troy, Illinois, and had resided most of his life in this vicinity. He was married to Miss Judith Hencke of Troy at the St. Boniface Church in Edwardsville on April 18, 1959.
Surviving in addition to his father and his wife are nine brothers and five sisters. They are Charles, Jr; Marcus, Joseph, Roy, Arthur, Erwin, Eugene, John and Robert Schmerbauch and Pauline Lewis, Ella Prendiville, Blanch Nix, Viola Schmieg, and Dorothy.
He was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 708 of Troy.
