Viola T. Schmieg nee Schmerbuach, 89, was born January 31, 1931 in Shiloh, IL, to Charles and Julia Schmerbauch. She passed away peacefully March 9, 2020. Vi was the beloved wife of the late Marvin Schmieg; mother of daughter Debra; sons Joel, Jon, Jay, Jeff, and Jim. Grandma of eleven and great-grandma of ten. Preceded in death by her siblings Charles, Marcus, Pauline, Joseph, Daniel, Blanch, Ella, Arthur, Francis (George), Roy, and Erwin. Survived by Dorothy, Robert and John, and many nieces and nephews. She was an R.N. for many years at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City, IL, where she worked in the Operating Room. She liked to tell people she was a "Call Girl" with a little smile as her own special joke. Her body was donated to Washington School of Medicine.
