Services for Hubert Lockwood Baird, 79, who died Aug. 26, 2002, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston, will be held at 10 am today at Houston First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Childs officiating.

Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery under the direction of Houston Funeral Home.

Mr. Baird was born the son of Osma Everett and Liza Jan Breland Baird.

He was the retired owner of H L Baird Machine Shop. He was a member of Houston First United Methodist Church, member of VFW Post 7149, and Mississippi Fly Wheelers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Ludell Hulsey Baird of Houston; three daughters, Patricia Archer and her husband, Walter, both of Houston, Carol Whitt and her husband, Jimmy, both of Okolona, and Jane Holcomb and her husband, Wayne, both of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Willie Maude Cox of Houston; four grandchildren, Matthew Archer, Anna Archer, Allison Whitt and Jordan Whitt; two step grandchildren, Joshua Holcomb and Brandy Whitt.

Pallbearers were David Baird, Larry Nichols, Keith Reese, Jimmy Sanderson, Mike Peel, Frank Pemper, Terry Smith, Wallace Norman Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Johnson, Billy Peel, Nona Taylor, VFW members and Fly Wheel Association Members.
