O E Baird, Sr, 87, Dies at Lucedale, Miss.

Osma Everette Baird, Sr., native of Chickasaw County and a retired machinist, died at 6 pm, Wednesday, May 28, at Lucedale, Miss. He was 87.

He died of a heart attack in Lucedale at the home of his brother, A L Baird. The had enjoyed a day of fishing together. The deceased had driven down on Monday for a few days visit and fishing. The heart attack occurred as they were getting ready for their evening meal.

Funeral services were conducted from the Houston Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 pm Friday, May 30, with the Rev. Howard Hathorn, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Houston Cemetery.

Mr. Baird had resided here all of his life. He was born March 20 1888, the son of Andrew Crawford Baird and Katie Moore Sanders Baird. He was a member of the Houston Methodist Church for more than 62 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Breland Baird; three sons, Everett Baird, Jr., and Hubert L Baird, both of Houston and Robert L Baird of West Point; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Jette Baird of Houston, Mrs. Paul G Cox, Sr. of Aberdeen, and Mrs. Annie Jordan of Scott Depot, W Va; three brothers, Ivy Baird of Houston, A L Baird of Lucedale and A H Baird of San Antonio, Tx., a sister, Mrs. Henry Leopard of Okolona, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
