Charles Edward Abney, 90, husband of Juanita Crowe Abney, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home in Winchester, Kentucky. A native of Clark County, he was born on March 1, 1933, to the late Rupard "RB" and Verlie Mae Bivens Abney. Charles retired from Sylvania where he worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the Fish and Game Club and a member of the Church of God.
In addition to his loving wife of 73 years, he is survived by five children, Carl Edward (Brenda) Abney, Sheila M. (John) Ratliff, Jerry Wayne Abney, Kathy Diane (Wayne) York, and Donny Ray (Christie) Abney; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Rahama Sidwell, Georgia Lee Watts, Rupard Abney Jr., Roy Lee Abney, Richard Eugene Abney, James Russell (Helen) Abney, John Carlton (Sylvia) Abney, Forrest Ray (Karen) Abney, and Virginia Mae Browning, and grandson, Larry Wayne Spicer.
Visitation will begin at 12:00PM, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Scobee Funeral Home with a service to begin at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and son-in-law, Wayne York, will serve as pallbearers.
