Born Sept. 30 1939 in Winchester, the son of Rupard and Virlie (Bivins) Abney, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and worked for many years at Production Plating Works and Valley Kitchens and was retired from Progressive Technologies in Lebanon, Ohio, and also was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rupard Abney Jr., and a sister, Georgia Watts.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Judy (Whitt) Abney of Lebanon, Ohio; sons, Wendell (Beth) Abney of Butlerville, Ohio, Bobby (Debbie) Abney of Ewing, Ky., and Richard of Lexington; daughter, Vickie (Danny) Perkins of Flemingsburg, Ky.; brothers Gene (Ruth), Charles (Juanita) and Forest (Karen), all of Winchester, James (Helen) of Wilmington, Ohio, and John (Sylvia) of Lebanon, Ohio; sisters Ruhama Sidwell of Mason, Ohio, and Virginia Browning of Winchester; six grandchildren, Kyle, Kerin, Nathan and Felicia Abney, Chad (Lacey) Gibson and Danielle Hendrix; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and LeiAnna Abney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 14 with a funeral service Wednesday, April 15, all at Stine and Kilburn Funeral Home in Lebanon, Ohio, with burial in the Lebanon Cemetery.
