He was the brother of Audrey, who was my mother, Everett, Edith, Mildred, Opal, Faye, Ann, Helen, and Charles Dale and the grandson of James G.A. Duty and Littia Anna WHITLOCK Duty and maternal grandparents, Jefferson Simmons, Jr. and Sarah ISAACKS Simmons.
Uncle Ernest married Betty BECKHAM in Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri on January 9, 1959. He was the father of four children.
He loved the river and was a river boat operator. He worked on the river boats for most of his adult life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six of his brothers and sisters.
Survivors included his children, Randal, Michael, Ernest Lee, and Karen and ten grandchildren. He was, also, survived by his brother, Charles Dale, his sister, Ann Taticek, his sister, Helen Sommers, and many, many nieces and nephews.
He is very much missed by his family and friends. Uncle Ernest died at home at age 63 from complications of diabetes mellitus.
(The above pictures are of the tree planted by the family in his memory and the memorial plaque which lays at the base of his tree. These memorials are located in the park by the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.)
