Francis Marion Rice was the son of George Edward Rice and Catharine Ann (Joyce) Rice. Marion married (1) Elizabeth Olds on October 11, 1875 in Boone County, Indiana (2) Mary Elizabeth Lapham on September 3, 1883 in Thorntown, Boone County, Indiana. Marion and Elizabeth had 2 children, Sanford Monroe Rice and Carolyn "Carrie" Ruth (Rice) Ingram. Marion and Mary had 9 children-Willard Omer Rice, Lena Gertrude (Rice) Warren, Cloyd E. Rice, Schulyer Clinton Rice, Orville Edward Rice, Thurlo Harold Rice, Edith Esther (Rice) Holmes Sullivan, John Elliott Rice and Clarence Elbert Rice.
