He was the son of Marion and Mary E. (Lapham) Rice, born Jun 14, 1884. In 1904 he was married to Goldie Blacker, who passed away in 1968.
Survivors include several Boone County residents, brothers, Clarence Rice of Lebanon and Orville Rice of Thorntown, as well as a sister Mrs. Edith Holmes of Lebanon. Another sister, Mrs. Carrie Ingram of San Diego, California survives. Children surviving are Mrs. Edward (Mary) Goetzman, Mrs. Mabel Beane, Mrs. Marvin (Nora) Shanks, and Mrs. J. (Doris) Orem, all of Kokomo; Mrs. Wendell (Dessie) Holden, Brownsburg; and Glen and Robert Rice, both of Kokomo. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ellers Chapel, Kokomo with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m."
