Finnis graduated from Fleming High School in Fleming, CO. He joined the US Navy and served in WWII, spending most of his time in the Philippines.

He married Virginia M Lousberg on July 9, 1947 at St. Peter's Catholic Church south of Fleming, CO. They were married 70 years before Virginia's passing April 13, 2018. Together with his wife, they owned and operated Brown Oil Co in Fleming for 39 years where he also built Brown's Trailer Park. Finnis was a Rural Letter Carrier for the US Post Office, drove a school bus for many years, was a volunteer fireman for the Fleming Volunteer Fire Dept, a member of Richard Becker VFW Post 7153 in Fleming, and was a member of the Sterling Elks Lodge. He was very active in the Fleming community.

After retiring they spent the next 33 years traveling all over the US and Canada in their RV, spending winters in Apache Junction, AZ and summers back in CO. Finnis loved polka & square dancing and blue grass festivals. His greatest love, however, was his family and his grandchildren.

Finnis is survived by his five daughters Kathleen Ardueser, Carol Dechand (Vince), Patricia Vandenbark (Kenneth), Nancy Fockler (Rex), Susan Clever (Larry); 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers Eugene and Lonnie Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia and son Robert Brown.

All services will be held at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman St, Longmont, CO. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, Visitation/Viewing at 4:00 pm followed by the Rosary at 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 10:00 am. Interment at Fort Logan Cemetery will be held at a later date.
