PHILLIPS, ORIE MAE – 1916-2001 – 84, wife of Rev. DILLARD PHILLIPS, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, January 3, at Hermitage. Mrs. PHILLIPS was the daughter of the late MELVIN ACRES and EMILY KEETON ACRES, and was preceded in death by three infant children; three brothers; and two sisters. She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Clinton. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by five sons, GENERAL LEE PHILLIPS and wife LORETTA of Colorado Springs, Colo., BILLY JOE PHILLIPS, CHARLES C. PHILLIPS and wife HELEN and ROBERT H. PHILLIPS all of Clinton, and RUFUS D. PHILLIPS and wife CAMILLE of Brentwood; two daughters, BETTY JEAN TEDDER and husband BEN of Kingston and PEGGY PHILLIPS of Clinton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 6 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home chapel with Rev. HERTIS PHILLIPS officiating. Burial was in the Jeffers Cemetery. Phillips; children: General Lee Phillips and wife, Loretta, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Billy Joe Phillips of Clinton, Charles C. Phillips and wife, Helen, Robert H. Phillips, and Peggy Phillips, all of Clinton, Rufus D. Phillips and wife, Camille, of Brentwood, and Betty Jean Tedder and husband, Ben, of Kingston; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted January 6, 2001, in the chapel of West – Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Hertis Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Jeffers Cemetery.
