ACRES, MELVIN - 85, of Rt. 1, Oneida, passed away at the Scott County Hospital, Friday, Oct. 24, after an illness of two months. He was the son of the late DAN ACRES and the late REBECCA GRIFFITH ACRES, a member of the Paint Rock Baptist Church. Survivors, wife, BESSIE ALEXANDER ACRES of Rt. 1, Oneida, four daughters, Mrs. LUCILE EVANS and Mrs. MARIE PHILLIPS both of Oneida, Mrs. MAE PHILLIPS, of Robbins, Mrs. KATHERINE CRABTREE of Jamestown, three sons, OBALEE ACRES of Jacksonville, Fla., EARNILD LEE ACRES of Oneida, ESTIL LEE ACRES of Oneida, a number of grandchildren and a number of great?grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Paint Rock Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 with the Rev. VAUGHN BURRESS and Rev. JERRY ZACHARY officiating. Burial followed in the Cotton Cemetery.
