Ella Terry Acres, 75, of the Pine Hill community, passed away Friday, January 11, 1985, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. She was the daughter of the late Starling and Sarah Cotton Terry and was a member of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Engram Phillips; her second husband, Melvin Acres; and two daughters: Grace Phillips and Betty Acres. Mrs. Acres is survived by four sons: Hett Phillips, Arnold Acres, and Estel Acres, all of the Pine Hill community, and Mitchell Phillips of Smyrna, Ga.; two daughters: Hazel Trammell and Lucille Evans, both of Oneida; three brothers: Woodrow, Lawrence and Lonnie B. Terry, all of Oneida; three sisters: Myrtle Cross, and Della Smith, both of Oneida, and Rosie Ellis of Pine Hill; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 13, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Scott County Funeral Home, with Rev. A. V. Stanley and Rev. John Stanley officiating. Special music provided by the Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir. Interment followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Clifford Reel officiating during graveside services.
