John Kelly Batman, oldest son of Henry S. & Miriah W. Landiss Batman, was born November 18, 1868 in Crawford County, near Curby. He spent his entire life on a farm near his birthplace, until retiring five years ago.
He died Wednesday night, April 9, 1953 at the age of 84 years. He married Mary Mills in July of 1902. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1948, he later married Lula Highfill Blevins.
Survivors are two brothers, Carter P. Batman, of Curby, and Alpheus Batman, of Marengo, a sister, Decora Lambdin, of Oakley, Calif.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Cates, Mrs. Ida Kelly and Mrs. Alice Coleman.
Final rites were held at the Tucker Funeral Home in English Saturday afternoon with Robert Thom, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Interment was in the Dillman Cemetery.
