Manuel was the son of Manuel Joseph Barcellos and Mary A Periera. He married Alice Harkness in Arroyo Grande California 29 April 1902. They had one daughter Lillian Sallie Barcellos Klewin.

OBITUARY
MANUEL BARCELLOS PASSES IN HOSPITAL
Manuel Barcellos, 73, of Pismo life long resident of the Arroyo Grande and Pismo Beach areas died at 12:35 a.m.yesterday in a SLO hospital where he was taken three weeks ago. He was in failing health for some months.
His late parents were early settlers of Arroyo Grande and lived for many years in thier home on Valley Road, now owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Guy W Palmer.
His father, Manuel Barcellos, Sr. began his career in SLO county by operating a whaling station near the old light house at Port Harfort, now Port San Luis.
Manuel, Jr., was born in SLO and came to Arroyo Grande with his parents in 1883 when his father engaged in farming here, and on another ranch they owned in the Lower Valley.
After his school days here in 1898, Manuel Jr became a clerk in the store of the late Dan Hecht, then located on Branch Street where the Arroyo Grande Bakery now stands. A year later he entered the employ of the late I Benchimol. in the general merchandise store on Branch Street, now used as a second hand store and shoe repair shop
In 1917 Barcellos went into business for himself and opened a garage in the Mosher building, which he operated until 1934. He then bought the Donati property and established a womens wear and dry goods store in the building now occupied by Art Mesquite as a warehouse. He was also associated with his brother in law Elmer Morgan in the Ford agency and garage business in the building now occupied by Chet Lawrence.
About 10 years ago Barcellos moved his stock of drygoods and wearing apparel to a store in Pismo Beach which is still opperated by the family.
He was married here in 1902 to Miss Alice Harkness, who with their only daughter, Mrs. Sallie Klewin, and grandson Barry Klewin of Pismo Beach, Survive.
Mr and Mrs Barcellos moved from their home on East La Point now owned by Dr. and Mrs. H C Swartout, and moved to the Butler Hotel in Pismo Beach, which they own, and where they made their home for the last 14 years or so.
The body is at an SLO mortuary where funeral arrangement are pending.
Other surviviros are three sisters, Mrs Mary Enos of Santa Maria, Mrs Henry Hinkle of Stockton, Mrs Fred D Meyer of SLO a brother , Frank Barcellos of SLO and several nephews and nieces.
