LOA, Wayne County — Funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. for Daniel Willard Brian, 85, Loa, who died Tuesday at 9:10 a.m. in a Richfield hospital after a brief illness following a heart attack.
Rites will be in the Loa Stake Tabernacle. Friends may call at the Springer Mortuary, in Richfield, Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday before services.
Mrs. Brian was an original member of the Loa Town Board, and was the first secretary of the Farm Bureau in Wayne County when it was organized in 1918.
He was president and a director of the Fremont Irrigation Co. For 39 years he was president of the Seven-Mile Grazers Association, Fishlake National Forest.
Mr. Brian was a Wayne County Bank and Loa Creamery director when they were organized. He was a charter member and past president of the Wayne County Lions Club.
Mr. Brian was born Oct. 13, 1880, in Loa, a son of Daniel Gross and Ellen Barnes Brian. On Feb. 5, 1903, he married Margaret Jennette Pace in Loa.
The War Department presented Mr. Brian with a plaque in 1946 for his efforts in the War Bond Drive. Wayne County, headed by Mr. Brian, and two other committeemen, was the first county in Utah to reach its quota. The county received an airplane which still stands on the county courthouse grounds.
Survivors include his widow; sons and daughters, Dow P., Salt Lake City; D. Roe, Loa; Mrs. Alva A. (Twila) Boston, Mrs. Lawrence (Hilda) Duncan, both Nephi; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
