Drucilla "Dru" Burnside Highland was born in Lancaster, KY to the late Rev. Charles A. & Isabelle Lane Burnside. She was the youngest of nine children and grew up in Junction City, KY. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1955 then began her career as a legal secretary. Over the decades she supported many attorneys and always considered them as part of her "family".
Dru moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1983 and became a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. She was known as Granny to all her grandchildren and their friends. Dru was deeply proud of each of her grandchildren and rarely missed hockey games, band and guard contests, graduations, and law school acceptance announcements. She always had her hands busy, quilting, knitting or crocheting projects even when her vision and mind declined. She never missed the opportunity to cook a meal for friends and family and took joy in them enjoying her food.
She is survived by her children, Jon Marc Highland (Kendra) and Margaret Suggs (Bill): and her grandchildren, Meredith and Myles Adair, Hannah, Isaac, Hallie and Nate Highland.
