Mary Jane was born on July 16, 1932, in Springfield, the daughter of Rufus P. and Myrtle L. Scott Jackson. She married Ronnie S. Carter on May 12, 1956, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Springfield, IL.
Mary Jane graduated from Lanphier High School and worked for St. John's Hospital and Sorling Law Office. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, entertaining, and most of all, spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers; and one sister.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ronnie S. Carter; their children, Nicholas (Toni) Carter, Valerie Carter, and Courtney Carter; grandchildren, Bridgette (Max) Kelly, and Callaghan, Erin, and Haleigh Carter; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Don, William, and David Jackson.
A private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
