Rufus P. Jackson Jr. of Springfield died at noon Friday in Alamogordo, N.M. He was born April 4, 1904, in Springfield, the son of Rufus B. and Mayme Osby Jackson. He married Myrtle L. Scott in 1926. She preceded him in death in 1966. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Ivan.
Mr. Jackson was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the UAW-AFLCIO. He was a graduate of Springfield High School, and was the first March of Dimes poster person in Springfield. He retired from Allis Chalmers in 1966 after 26 years employment.
Surviving are seven sons and two daughters; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Thelma Watson, Juanita Hammonds and Olga Curtis.
Services at Bisch Memorial Home. Private family interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
