Services will be held Friday for Donald Wayne Kessel, 74, of New Cumberland, RD 1 who died today at Weirton General Hospital following a year's illness. He had been a patient in the hospital two months.
Born Jan. 26, 1894, in Congo, Hancock County, he was a son of the late Thomas Kessel and Mary Martin Kessel.
Mr. Kessel retired eight years ago as an employe [sic] of the People's Bank in Weirton. He was a member of the Fairview Presbyterian Church at New Manchester and New Cumberland Masonic Lodge 22.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jane Wern Kessel at home; a brother Kenneth Kessel of Freemont, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Allison and Mrs. Helen Pugh of Chester and Mrs. Lois Bischoff of Milton, W. Va., and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Fields Funeral Home, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Richard L. Meyer and the Rev. Allen S. Fields officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, New Manchester.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon and night. The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Cancer Fund at the Weirton General Hospital.
