S. J. Cornwell, Roswells, Dies
Mr. Sidney Johnston Cornwell, a prominent farmer and citizen of the Catawba section, died at his home Wednesday night at 11:40 o'clock. Mr. Cornwell had been in failing health for some time, but his death followed an illness of only a few hours, and was unexpected. He was fifty-nine years old.
Funeral services were held at eleven o'clock Thursday morning at Neely's Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian church with the pastor, the Rev. W. R. Echols, officiating. He was assisted by Dr. Oliver Johnson of Winnsboro. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs. Robert Stevenson, C. C. Cornwell, Davis Cornwell, Tom Boyd Cornwell, Sidney Roddey and John Davis Cornwell. The honorary escort was composed of the elders of Neely's Creek church and members of Fort Lawn Chapter A. F. M. 291.
Mr. Cornwell was a son of John Davis Cornwell, a native of Lancaster county, and Mrs. Hannah Rhoden Cornwell, a native of Chester county.
