TROUP - David L. Dark, 81, of Rt. 4, Tyler, died at 2 am today (20 Sept 1965) at his home after a lenghty illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday (21 Sep 1965)at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Walnut Grove near Troup with Rev. E. W. Kiser and Rev. R.E.McAnnally officiating.

Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Forester Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Bullard Lodge No. 785. The body will rest at the church one hour previous to service.

He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Bullard Masonic Lodge, the Mount Carmel Baptist CHurch and Woodmen of the World.

Survivors inlcude his wife, Mrs. Laura Mae Bunch Dark; eight daughters, Mrs. Lottie Perry of Beaumont, Mrs. Jewel Hays of Bullard, Mrs. Emma Dowdy of Troup, Mrs. Lillian Dawson and Mrs. Thelma DuVall, both of Benton, Ark., and Mrs. Ellie Ivy, Mrs. Clara West, and Mrs. Agnes Roycroft, all of Tyler; two sons, James Ary Dark of Whitehouse, and Perry Dark of Tyler; one brother, Nathan Dark of Tyler; three sisters, Mrs. Lizie Bunch of Waco, Mrs. Sallie Bunch of Coolidge, and Mrs. Ada Cates of Tyler; 36 grandchildren, and 69 great-grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

David was the son of W.G. and Emma Dark who are also buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

David married the former Laura Mae Bunch on August 10, 1903 in Whitehouse, Smith County, Texas. The two met at a party when Mrs. Dark was visiting a relative.
