Joseph A. Abbott, 87, 817 Warsaw street, died Tuesday night at a local hospital.

Born in Iatan, Mo., Mr. Abbott had lived here more of his life. He was a retired 50-year employee of the Union Pacific Railroad.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Helen Abbott of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Whitlock and Mrs. Genevieve Jackson, both of St. Joseph; three sons, William J. Abbott, Omaha, Neb., Benjamin B. Abbott, Chapman, Kan.; one foster son, D.C. McMillen, Hastings, Neb.; three stepsons, Walter C. Reinke, St. Joseph, George Reinke, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Charles Scritchfield, Fort Riley, Kan.; and five stepdaughters, Mrs. Pauline Bagby, Junction City, Kan., Mrs. Marie King, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Mrs. Myrtle Pease, Mrs. Chelita Goolsby, and Mrs. Marsha Blizzard, all of St. Joseph.
