Jack was the son of James Stephen Howell and Eleanor Anne (Kilgore) Howell. Brother of Elizabeth "Eliza" Howell, William Howell, Stephen "Steve" Howell, Franklin Howell, Rebeca (Howell) Nelms, James Oliver Howell, Jasper N Howell Sr.

They came to Anderson Co, TX from Cherokee County, Georgia c. 1881. Their sons, Charles Milton Howell, Lemuel Richard Howell, Virgil Manzona Howell, William Emmett Howell, and daughters, Dessie A. (Howell) Dyer, Etta O. (Howell) Fields and Laura Jennie (Howell) Glenn, are also buried in Garden of Memories. Their daughter, Rilla (Howell) Daniels is buried in Starr Cemetery.Caption for family photo:
