Etta was the eighth of nine children born to Marion Jackson and Francis "Fannie" Hames Howell. Her parents are also buried in Garden of Memories. She is buried beside her husband, Norton Bailey Fields (aka Arthur Wesely Collier) in 1929, at the age of 41. She never had children.

OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Tuesday, 27 Dec 1966:

Mrs. Etta Fields, 78, died this morning at 2:30 a.m. in the Palestine Nursing Home where she had resided for the past four and a half months.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Bailey Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkhart Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roy Howell, Herschell Howell, Mildred Howell, Lee Weatherford, James Lanier and Raymond Kyle.

Mrs. Fields was born in Cleburne but had lived in Elkhart most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Her husband, N. B. Fields died March 9, 1951.

She is survived by one brother, V. M. Howell and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Lee Weatherford and Mrs. C. D. Fryar, both of Palestine.

Palestine - Funeral services for Mrs. Etta fields, 78, of Elkhart, who died in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bailey Funeral Home with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart. The Rev. Otis Felton will officiate.

She was a native of Cleburne, but had resided in Elkhart most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart.

Survivors include a brother, V M Howell of Elkhart; several nephews and nieces among whom are Mrs. C D Fryar and Mrs. Lee Weatherford, both of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Roy Howell, Herschell Howell, Mildred Howell, Lee Weatherford, James Lanier, and Raymond Kyle.
