BURKE, WILL HADE – born Nov. 2, 1889, deceased this life April 7, 1970, at the age of 80 years, 5 mos. and 5 days. He was the son of the late LEWIS BURKE and MARY ANN SMITH BURKE, a member of the Bethalonia Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, RILDA THOMAS BURKE of Oneida, five daughters, Mrs. ALICE HAMBY, of Muncie, Ind., Mrs. DOROTHY MARCUM Mrs. CONNIE TERRY, Mrs. ELIZABETH BOYATT, Mrs. MENDA ANN WILLIAMS, all of Oneida, eight sons, MITCHELL BURKE, Winfield, LEWIS BURKE, Muncie, Ind., T.L. BURKE, HOWARD BURKE, J. D. BURKE, CRESTIN, JESSIE and JAMES LESTER BURKE, all of Oneida, two sisters, Mr. ETHEL SLAVEN and Mrs. ELLEN MILLER both of Oneida, one brother, CRAWFORD BLEVINS of Winfield. He also leaves 40 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He united with the Bethalonia United Baptist Church June 18, 1966, where he remained a member until death. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord. (Source: Minutes of the West Union Assoc. of United Baptist Churches, 1970, p13-14)
