Mitchell Asbury Burk, 83, of Rt. 3, Oneida, passed away at the Scott County Hospital Sunday, Sept. 6, 1970 after an illness of one year. He was the son of the late Lewis Burk and the late Mary Ann Smith Burk, a member of the Baptist Church.
[He was preceded in death by his wife, Frona Litton Burk.] Survivors: five sons, Walter Burk of Benham, Ky., George Burk of Detroit, Mich., Willie Burk of London, Ky., Kenneth Burk of Silver Grove, Ky., Keith Burk of Arlington, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Phelps of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Ilene Hollifield of Oneida, Mrs. Eva Terry of Oneida; twenty-two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. One half brother, Crawford Blevins of Winfield; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Miller, Mrs. Ethel Slaven both of Oneida.
Funeral services were conducted from the Opossum Rock Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 1970 with the Rev. Roy Blevins officiating. Burial followed in the Opossum Rock Cemetery.
