J.D. Burke age 82, departed this life on October 6, 2023. He was born on February 19, 1941, to the late Will Haden & Rilda Thomas Burke. J.D. was a carpenter, cabinet maker, & coal miner. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was the pastor of Bethalonia United Baptist Church from 1988 - until October 6, 2023. J.D. accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord & Savior on August 26, 1954. He loved spending time with his family but, most of all he loved serving the Lord.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Brothers: Lewis Burke (Gearldean), Howard Burke (Lena), T.L. Burke (Alene), Crestin Burke, Mitchell Burke (Wilda), Ovia Burke (Bernis), & Ester Burke (Dorothy); Sisters: Connie Burke Terry (Cal), Dorthey Burke Marcum (Woodrow), & Alice Burke Hamby (Herman); Brother-in-laws: Odell Williams, & Arnold Boyatt; Sister-in-law: Judy Boshears Smith, Patsy Hatfield, & Ann Clowers Boshears; Brother-in-law: Floyd Hatfield; Father & Mother-in-law: Ed & Nora Day Boshears; Daughter-in-law: Tena Burke.
He was survived by his wife of 60 years Kathleen Emma Burke; Children: Randy Burke (Lisa), & Katrina Goodman (Jason); Grandchildren: Sierra, Dakota, Alexzanrandia, Ashley, Andrea, Sydney, Jeremy, & Tucker; Great-Grandchildren: Allie, Abbie, Annalie, & Noah; Sisters: Menda Burke Williams, & Elizabeth Burke Boyatt; Brothers: Jessie Burke (Kay), & Lester Burke (Brenda); Brothers-in-law: Paul Boshears, Junior Boshears (Jennifer), Gary Boshears (Carrol), & Curtis Ray Boshears (Linda); Sister-in-law: Geneva Hatfield, Loretta Boshears Hatfield (Ray), Bonnie Boshears Murley (Johnny), & Janetta Boshears Davis (Ted); and many other relatives and friends.
