Earl Smith Glasscock was the son of Henry Franklin "Frank" Glasscock and Amanda Catherine "Mandy" Griffith. He was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas on August 31, 1890.

He had 10 siblings: Belvy Leila Glasscock (West), Burley Green Glasscock, Robert Dolphus "Dolf" Glasscock, Minnie Mavis Glasscock (Jones), Henry Walter Glasscock, William Albert "Bill" Glasscock, George Almus Glasscock and Mabel Eleanor Glasscock (both of whom died in infancy), Herman Otis "Lefty" Glasscock and Ethel B. Glasscock (Shane).

Earl was a railroad Conductor (see picture to the right). He played guitar, and I'm told never drank a day in his life.

On November 16, 1913, Earl married Emma Gertrude Burns (most likely in Oklahoma). Together, they had two children: Ruby Hazel Glasscock (Hammond) and Clarence Gee Glasscock. The date of their divorce is unknown, though it was likely sometime before 1935.

Earl moved to Texas between 1925 and 1930. On June 10, 1936, he married Iva May "Ivy" Conger (Britton). Together, they had three children: Leonard Lee Glasscock, Ivan Garland Glasscock, and Claude Richard "Rick" Glasscock.

Available records will show they also had a son named Franklin Dee "Frank" Glasscock, but he was actually their grandson and technically their adopted son. Frank's biological parents were Clarence Gee Glasscock, Earl's son from his first marriage to Emma Burns, and Essie Pauline Britton (Pair), Iva's daughter from her first marriage to Boyd Franklin Britton. Earl and Iva raised Frank because Clarence and Pauline were young and unmarried; they loved him and always treated him as if he were one of their own.

Iva already had a total of six children who were very young when she and Earl married-- five from her first marriage: Essie Pauline Britton (Pair), Allen Leo Britton, Edna Lorene Britton (McClish), Dorothy Ola Britton (Akins), and James Leon Britton; and Charles Clifford Britton, who was given the Britton name, but who was born about five years after her husband deserted her. Earl, Iva and their children all lived happily together in Amarillo, Texas.

Earl passed away on August 26, 1967 in Amarillo. He was buried at Llano Cemetery alongside his family. Earl will always be remembered as a good natured man who loved his family.
