Sue was the beloved daughter of John Albert & Mable (Hohn) Ritter. Sue had all brothers. The children's order: Elmo Leon, Earl "Ike", Mary "Sue", John "Jack", and Gene. Sue fell in love with a relative of a neighbor near her home in Byron, Oklahoma. His name was Donely Brake. Don was originally from Balka, Beaver County, Oklahoma. Don's family had moved to California. Don moved Sue to Pomona, California, where they were married on 12/14/1936. They were living at 164 West Pearl St., Pomona, CA. Mary Sue was expecting and gave birth to a baby boy (stillborn) in the morning of September 13, 1938, she died of complications of a heart defect and the pregnancy that same evening. Her mom & family loved her so much. She was the only girl and her brothers thought she was just everything. John, Sue's dad had passed away in 1935, three years earlier. Mabel was a recent widow and then the news of Sue and her baby's deaths.

I am her niece, Elmo's daughter. I have looked for a long while to find her burial place. She was dearly loved by her family. A loss my grandmother never got over. Mable lived to be 100 years old. She loved Sue so much. For Sue Ritter, I have established your page, you will forever be in our hearts.
