Juriah Read Simpson, sixth child of John Simpson and Margaret Ann Dickson was named for her maternal Aunt, Juriah Wood (Dickson) Read. Juriah Simpson was born July 8, 1852, at Ditto's Landing, Alabama and died September 14, 1863, at Green Grove, (Now Redstone Arsenal), Alabama. Her tombstone reads: Juriah Simpson BORN July 8, 1852 DIED Sep. 14, 1863 Aged 11 years, 2 months, 6 days Suffer little children to come unto me for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.
