Elwin "Pete" Birchard
September 11, 1925 - April 12, 2018
Elwin Pete Birchard, 92, of South Auburn, PA, passed away on Thursday April 12, 2018, at Meadow View Senior Living Center. He was born on September 11, 1925 in Montrose, PA; and grew up at Louden Hill Farms; the 2nd oldest of 13, to the late Lewis E. and Ethel Lois (Wood) Birchard. His wife of 49 years, Elaine J. (Steer) Birchard, predeceased him in 1998.
Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Tim Tyler, South Auburn, PA, Becky and Rodney Fry, Muncy, PA, three grandchildren, Jason (Izabella) Tyler, Justin (Rachel) Tyler, Alayna, three great grandchildren, Zoe, Harper and Jacob Tyler, special niece, Linda (Jack) Humphrey, Binghamton, NY, four sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Overfield, Montrose, PA, Connie Darrow, Endicott, NY, Lois Squeak Birchard, Endicott, NY, Elaine Wee Wee and Stephen Pilarcek, Endwell, NY, brother, Edwin Birchard, Choconut, PA, sisters-in-law, Janet, Barbara and Gloria Birchard, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pete worked for 25 years at Shadowbrook Farms, then for several years at Dairylea Bottling Co., Scranton, PA, before retiring from TRE-HAB Weatherization Program. He loved to collect milk bottles. Pete moved to South Auburn in in the fall of 1999, while there he enjoyed coffee time with his Tyler family, hunting, riding four-wheeler, and watching wildlife from his windows. Pete shot his last buck at age 90.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, with Pastor Jane M. Pykus of the South Montrose Community Church, officiating, Visitations will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the South Montrose Cemetery.
