Charles E. Archer

Charles Edward Archer, 80, of Waverly Rd., Williamstown, died Wednesday morning in Marietta Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Born at Rockport, Wood County, he was a son of the late Frank and Martha Deem Archer. He had been a teacher in Wood County Schools and a salesman for the Shadduck and Jackson Wholesale Grocery in Parkersburg before his retirement as head of the warehouse of Wiant and Barr Hardware Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Williamstown.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eva L. McLane Archer; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest P. (Roberta) Adkins and Mrs. Homer (Ruth) Mahaney, both of Williamstown; four sisters, Mrs. Maud Knotts of Parkersburg, Mrs. Leum Brown of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Rae Butcher of Mineral Wells, and Mrs. Garner Norman of Winter Park, Fla.; one brother, Roy Adkins of Parkersburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cawley Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Robert Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery in Williamstown.
