WILLIAMSTOWN – Mrs. Eva Archer, 87, a resident here of 104 ½ St., died yesterday morning in Marietta Memorial Hospital.

A former teacher in the Wood county schools, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamstown and the WSCS. She had taught the Friendly Bible Class for many years. She was a charter member of the West Virginia Poetry Society and the Women’s Club, literature and homes department.

Born in Parkersburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret Carpenter McLane.

Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Adkins and Ruth Mahaney, both of Williamstown; one brother, Bernard L. Archer of Chillicothe, O., five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Archer, who died in in 1968, and one daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cawley and Sons Funeral Home, Marietta, with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery at Williamstown.
