Jim was born May 8, 1933 in Proctorville, Ohio, the son of Elmer E. and Erma A. (Edwards) Henington. He owned and operated Jim Henington’s Garage for thirty years. Jim enjoyed running his automotive repair business, racing, and playing music on his steel guitar. He married Virginia Mae Stratton in 1950 and she preceded him in death in 1989. Jim then married Christine Spurlock and she preceded him in death 2010.
Jim is survived by his sons Jimmy D. (Kathleen) Henington of Decatur and Daniel L. (Dianne) Henington of Clarksville, Tennessee, daughters Glenda C. (Robert) Gullion of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brenda S. (Columbus) Miles of Decatur, and Shawnda L. (Randy) Tague of Decatur, daughter-in-law Lori Bowman, brother Buddy L. (Judy) Henington, Nora B. Kinney and Deborah K. (Bob) Thomas, grandchildren James Kasten, Jeff Lycan, Jeremy Lycan, Daniel Kacsir, Joseph Henington, Shelley Mempin, Michael Henington, Greg Gullion, Jesse Gullion, Matthew Gullion, Alyssa Cartee, and Shelby Tague, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, sisters, Betty L. Evans, Mary A. Kennedy, and Emily S. Wallace, and son Phillip A. Henington.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff with Lincolnshire Place and Evergreen for all of their compassionate care and support.
Services to celebrate Jim’s life will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
