According to tradition, the town was named in honor of Harrison’s daughters, Cynthia and Anna. Cynthiana is the seat of Harrison County. . .
A few historic sites remain. The Graveyard (Old Cemetery), in existence before the town was founded, holds the remains of the city’s first mayor and a number of other notable citizens."

He was a neighbor of the Sneeds in Henry Co., VA (before part of it was broken off to form Patrick Co.) and came to Harrison Co., KY in the 1790s with his brother John and their father William. Absalom bought land on Richland Creek in Harrison Co. in 1801. He and his father were trustees of the Baptist Church at the mouth of Raven Creek in Harrison County, Kentucky. He took his family to Putnam Co., IN about 1826.

A few historic sites remain. The Graveyard (Old Cemetery), in existence before the town was founded, holds the remains of the city’s first mayor and a number of other notable citizens."

He was a neighbor of the Sneeds in Henry Co., VA (before part of it was broken off to form Patrick Co.) and came to Harrison Co., KY in the 1790s with his brother John and their father William. Absalom bought land on Richland Creek in Harrison Co. in 1801. He and his father were trustees of the Baptist Church at the mouth of Raven Creek in Harrison County, Kentucky. He took his family to Putnam Co., IN about 1826.
