[The location of the Sneed family cemetery is no longer known and there was likely more than one. This large family lived and farmed near Elamsville, Patrick Co., VA.]

She married first about 1770, possibly Lunenberg Co., VA to John Sneed. They were likely married in Lunenberg Co., VA where Nancy's, and perhaps John's, family was living.

She married second, 27 Dec 1816, Patrick Co., VA to John Tuggle. John was probably born about 1745, assuming he was about age 25 when he was married.

1781 – The first definite record of our John Sneed shows his service in the American Revolution when he served in James Poteet's Company from the Henry County militia. They marched to the aid of General Nathaniel Green at the Battle of Guilford Court House in North Carolina, but the fighting was over by the time they got there and they were sent back home:

[Source: History of Patrick Co., VA by Pedigo, 1933.]
"Now follows the list of those with Colonel Penn who marched to the assistance Colonel Green at Guilford Court House on March 11,1781:

John and Nancy bought 200 acres that same year:

23 Nov 1783, Henry Co., VA - daughter Judith was born.

1784, they bought another 154 acres from Benjamin Murrell who was originally from Lunenberg Co., VA and was probably some relation of Nancy's:

13 May 1784 [Benjamin] Murrell to John Sneed 154 acres on Beard's Creek land deed Henry Co, Virginia.

1785 - the part of Henry County that John and Nancy lived in was split off into the new Franklin County, where they were listed on the tax list the next year:

This mention of John Sneed in Patrick Co., VA may have been either John Sr. or his son John Jr., although John Sr. seems more likely:

1814 Patrick Co., VA estate of Robert Wright. William Sneed mentioned. Inventory by William Sneed 1809. Settlement of account with James Turner and his father Francis's account. Signed William Hancock, John Hall, John Sneed.

1815 July 22 - Patrick Co, VA Will Bk 1:276
Estate of BENNETT HOUCHINS deceased - Inventory taken by Jeremiah Burnett, Isaac Adams & John Sneed. "1 note on William Burnett."

4 Aug 1815 - John made his will in Patrick Co, VA in which he leaves token bequests to his children and the rest of the estate to Nancy. His brothers? James and Abraham Sneed were witnesses. [It's possible James was his grandson, son of William. This James would have been about twenty.] The will was proved at the Oct 1815 session of the Patrick County court, showing that he had died by that time. His son youngest son Samuel was married in Patrick Co., VA 15 Sep 1815, but it's hard to guess whether he would have married while his father was sick or waited until after he had died. The inventory of John's estate in December shows that either John or Nancy lent Samuel a considerable amount of (probably) furniture and tools with which to start married life.

"In the name of God, amen. This fourth day Aug. in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred fifteen.
I, John Sneed Senior of Patrick County being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make, constitute, and ordain this my last will and testament in order to dispose of such worldly goods and estate as God in mercy has given me.

And I do hereby appoint and constitute my eldest son William Sneed sole executor of this my last will and testament, here revoking and disannulling all other wills by me made, confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
