He was the son of Jim and Sally Bench Qinton. He grew up on the Quinton ranch south of Quinton and was active in the ranching business until he moved to McAlester in 1946. He went to work at the Oklahoma State Prison in 1949 as a correctional officer and retired in 1975 after 26 years. He and Pauline Spicer were married on Dec. 2, 1936 in Quinton. He is survived by his wife; two sons and a daughter in law, Jimmy Quinton and Jerry and JoAnn Quinton, all of McAlester; four grandchildren, Matthew and Todd Qinton of McAlester, Shelli Quinton and Tawna Crist, both of Oklahoma City; a brother, Avery Quinton of California; a sister Elizabeth Anderson of Wichita, Kansas; six half-sisters, Hazel Soden, Lovica Blackwood, Myrtle Mann and Mary Ellen Palmer, all of McAlester; and two half brothers, Jim Quinton of Reliance, Wyoming and Willis Quinton of Quinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Hester Quinton; a sister, Cicero and a half sister, Lilly Henson.
