OBIT:

Anna Matilda Essex, was born near Hope, Indiana, September 7, 1846, being 82 years, 5 months, and 27 days when she passed on to her home beyond.

She was united in marriage on September 1, 1864 to William H. Remy who preceded her in death on March 3, 1912, 17 years ago last Sunday.

To them were given seven children, six of whom are still living, the eldest child, Mrs. J. H. Herron preceding the parents to the home beyond in February 1902 at Grand Junction, Colorado.

The children surviving are Mrs. F. L. Crie, Mitchell; Mrs. C. H. McManigal, Scottsbluff; Arthur, who resided here with his mother; B. D. Remy of Springfield, Mass. O. W. Remy, Lebanon, Indiana and Mrs. E. S. Troxel, Los Angeles, Cal.

There were 16 grandchildren, 11 of whom are living; and 120 great grandchildren living. She came to Ainsworth with her husband and family in October 1886, since which time this has been her home. Her neighbors and friends loved and respected her for her unselfish qualities, always ready to do acts of kindness and helpfulness for those about her.

She had been sorely afflicted with rheumatism for many years, but refused to yield to her suffering, performing the duties of her home with a determination greater than her strength.

She was stricken with her last illness on Monday night, February 25th and all the loving care and ministrations that anxious relatives could give was powerless to restore her. On Monday night at 9 o'clock, March 4, quietly and peacefully passed her spirit to the God who gave it.

She united with the Baptist Church at Hawcreek, Indiana in her early married life and for more than 60 years has retained her membership in that church.
