Elvia "Elva" Pesnell Flurry, 93, of El Dorado passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Timberlane Health & Rehab.
She was born January 25, 1924 in Simsboro, LA to Henry Pesnell & Maggie Rasbury Pesnell. Elvia was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Rev. Roy Flurry; her daughter, Brenda Gilbert; grandson, Kenneth Gilbert; six brothers and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Gilbert, Kenlee Gilbert and Georgia Gilbert.
Survivors include her son, Rev. Ronald Flurry (Janet) of Ruston, LA; a daughter, Barbara McWilliams (Jesse) of El Dorado; three granddaughters, Donna Thomas (Mark) of Magnolia, Connie Gould (David) of Tyler, TX and Edie Chapoy (Robert) of San Angelo, TX; four grandsons, Glenn Gilbert (Shelly) of Camden, Randall Gilbert (Sara) of El Dorado, Mark Flurry (Liyan) of Dalian, China and Andy Flurry of Birmingham, AL; a granddaughter-in-law, Angie Gilbert of Camden; a son-in-law, George Gilbert of El Dorado; a sister-in-law, Billie Madge Pesnell of Arcadia, LA; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in Young's Chapel with Rev. Steve Pelz officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Weldon Cemetery near Bernice, LA with Rev. Ron Flurry officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
