She was born on Aug. 12, 1930, in Evans, Utah, a daughter of Emil Laurits and Grace Cleopha Andreasen Andersen. She graduated from Bear River High School and later received her nursing degree from Weber State College.
Phyllis married Gordon R. Holmgren on Nov. 23, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2012. She lived in Bear River City all of her married life.
Phyllis enjoyed cooking, sewing, serving others and being with her family. She was a member of the Bear River City 3rd Ward and held many callings over the years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Surviving are her six children: Gwen Thomas of Middleton, Idaho; Wendy (David) Douglas of Salt Lake City, Utah; Robyn (David) Richards of Beaver Dam, Utah; Tamra (Harold Porter) Chiodo of Mazeppa, Minn; Chad Holmgren and Emilee (Erik) Nebl both of Bear River City, Utah; fourteen grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Bradbury; Irma Poulson and one brother, Lynn Andersen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the Bear River City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9 -10:45 a.m., at the church.
