Wilma Rita Winkelbauer 93, of Horton, Kansas passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas. She was born on February 1, 1923 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Oda Dorei and Edward Schuetz. Wilma Graduated from Powhattan High School and after graduation lived in Denver, Colorado for a short time before moving to Horton. She married Leonard Winkelbauer on August 7, 1946 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mercier, Kansas. Wilma was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Leonard of the home; two sons Reverend Phillip Winkelbauer of Leavenworth, Kansas; Leland (Sandi) Winkelbauer of Topeka, Kansas; one daughter, Colette Winkelbauer, Lawrence, Kansas; one sister Patricia Christie of Topeka, Kansas; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bruce; five brothers and four sisters. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 on Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where family will greet friends following the rosary. Burial will be at the St. Leo’s cemetery.
