Mrs. Mary Glenn Shaffer, 80, R 3, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday, September 25, at Whitley County Hospital. She had been ill five weeks and had been a hospital patient since September 10. Her birth was June 27, 1901, in Thorncreek Township to Austin B. and Mary Jane Cullers Cook.
She was first married to Russell Phillip Hull. He preceded her in death. May 28, 1955, she was married to Rudy Fay Shaffer. He died October 26, 1965.
Mrs. Shaffer spent her life in this area. She was a retired employee of Whitley Products, Inc., and a member of West Point United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the church women's society and Lakeview club.
Surviving are three sons, Austin Hull of Pierceton, Keith Hull of Hamlet and W. Eugene Hull of R 1; two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Mary Virginia) McCoy of R 9, Mrs. Eugene (Neva Norene) Slack of Alfred, N. Y. There are 23 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Phil Hull; three brothers and two sisters.
