Neva Norene Slack, 76
Died 2/24/2008 at Hope Hospice in North Fort Myers, Florida, where she
had been a patient for less than two weeks.
She was born 7/12/1931, a daughter of Russell Phillip and Mary Glen (Cook) Hull
of Whitley County, and graduated from Larwill High school, class of 1949.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Anderson College in
June, 1959.
She taught Biology and General Science at Highland High School near
Anderson for a period of time, and also worked as a court stenographer.
She was married in 1949 to Eugene C. Slack from Fort Wayne.
He was born 12/7/1924, and died on 9/30/2001.
He graduated from Anderson College in June, 1957.
He was an administrator of mechanical operations in various colleges and
universities over his working career, including Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
Chattanooga, TN, and Alfred, NY before retiring to North Fort Myers, FL
about 1990, where they have resided since.
Besides her husband and parents, Norene was preceded in death by
brothers Keith Hull of Hamlet, IN; Austin Hull of Warsaw, IN and Bonita
Springs, FL; Phil N. Hull of Thorncreek township, and sister Mary Virginia (Hull)McCoy of Columbia City. She is survived by a brother, W. Eugene Hull, of
Columbia City, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Both Eugene and Norene have been cremated, and their ashes will be
buried at sea together in the Gulf of Mexico.
There will be no services at their request.
